Context :- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has released the India AI Governance Guidelines.
Elements of Artificial Intelligence :-
Machine Learning (ML): A field of AI that enables systems to autonomously learn from data and improve their performance on specific tasks without being explicitly programmed.
- Deep Learning: A subset of ML that employs multi-layered artificial neural networks to automatically learn complex, hierarchical representations (features) directly from data.
- Natural Language Processing (NLP): A branch of AI focused on granting computers the ability to process, interpret, understand, and generate human language.
- Computer Vision: An interdisciplinary field enabling computers to derive meaningful information and understanding from digital images, videos, and other visual inputs.
- Neural Networks: ML models, inspired by the human brain, consisting of interconnected nodes (neurons) that process information, learn to identify patterns, and make classifications or predictions.
India’s Key Artificial Intelligence Initiatives:-
- National Strategy for AI (2018): The foundational policy for leveraging AI for economic and social development.
- INDIAai: The National AI Portal, acting as a central knowledge hub and ecosystem builder.
- AI Centers of Excellence (CoEs): Established in premier institutes to drive advanced AI research.
- FutureSkills PRIME: A MeitY-NASSCOM initiative for upskilling IT professionals in AI.
- RAISE (Responsible AI for Social Empowerment): An initiative focused on using AI for social good.
- Sectoral Programs: Includes “Responsible AI for Youth” (skilling) and “AI for Agriculture.”
