Context
Recently, the Government of India, through NSDC and MSDE, launched a nationwide Cloud and AI Skilling Initiative in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to prepare Indian youth for future technology jobs. The programme will provide basic cloud and AI training to 1.5 lakh learners and job-ready training to 10,000 youth, especially in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Institutional Framework
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE)
- Implementing Agency: National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC)
- Delivery Partner (NSDC-selected): Cultus Education — delivers the programme 100% online
- Technology & Skilling Partner: Amazon Web Services (AWS), through its AWS re/Start programme and AWS digital training content
Programme Targets
- Foundational cloud and AI literacy for 1,50,000 learners through AWS digital training content
- Intensive, job-ready cloud and AI training for 10,000 participants through the AWS re/Start programme
- Coverage: all States and Union Territories, with priority to youth in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and underserved communities
AWS re/Start Programme
- A free, cohort-based workforce development training programme
- Instructor-led, structured training in cloud infrastructure, security, networking, and AI fundamentals
- Delivered with professional mentors and accredited instructors through real-world, scenario-based learning and hands-on labs
- Connects participants with employment opportunities at local employers; graduates gain access to qualified interview opportunities
- Graduates earn an AWS Certification, an industry-recognised credential validating cloud computing skills
Implementation Mechanism
- Enrolment through an online registration portal; learners begin with AWS digital training content at their own pace
- Participants demonstrating readiness progress to the AWS re/Start track for advanced, job-ready training
- The learning journey culminates in a National Hackathon, where participants showcase cloud and AI solutions before hiring managers and industry leaders
