- ‘NIPUN‘, the second Diving Support Vessel (DSV), built by Hindustan Shipyard Limited, was delivered to the Indian Navy on 30 July 2026 at Visakhapatnam.
- Designed and constructed as per Classification Rules of the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS); the name derives from Sanskrit meaning ‘one who is adept, capable, and well versed in a particular discipline’.
Technical Capabilities of NIPUN
- Nipun’ is a Sanskrit word meaning highly skilled, competent, and deeply knowledgeable in a specific field. True to its name, the vessel is specially equipped for deep-water diving missions and maritime rescue tasks.
- Side diving stage provided for Diving Operations.
- Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) enable diver monitoring and salvage operations.
- Serves as Mother Ship for the Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV), for personnel evacuation from a submarine in emergencies.
