About
- PM-KISAN is a Central Sector Scheme launched by the Government of India on 24 February 2019 (effective from 1 December 2018).
- It is implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare.
- The scheme provides income support of ₹6,000 per year to eligible landholding farmer families.
- Funding: 100% funded by the Central Government.
- The amount is transferred in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 every four months through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
- Identification of Beneficiaries: State Governments and Union Territory Administrations verify and upload eligible beneficiaries.
Objectives
- Supplement farmers’ income for agricultural and allied activities.
- Reduce dependence on informal credit.
- Promote timely purchase of farm inputs and improve agricultural productivity.
Eligibility
- All eligible landholding farmer families.
- A family is defined as husband, wife, and minor children.
- Aadhaar authentication/e-KYC is mandatory for receiving benefits.
